Chakra balancing walking meditation

This chakra (or energy center) balancing meditation was designed to be done while walking, but can easily be modified for stillness if that’s what is best and most accessible for your body.

If you decide on stillness, find a comfortable position for your body — seated or lying down. If your body decides that walking is best, go at a gentle and leisurely pace that allows you to easily regulate your breath.

As you walk, if you feel comfortable doing so, place your hand on a place on your body that corresponds with each chakra or energy center. If you are unable or decide not to do so, bringing your attention to each of those centers in your body is perfectly fine.

Beginning with your crown chakra: place your hand on your body, take one full deep breath in through your nose, let one full deep breath out through your mouth and say out loud “I am home and I am happy here”, letting the person of your body know that you delight in being partnered with them.

Take another deep breath in through your nose and another out through your mouth, then move your hand and your attention to the next energy center in your body — your third eye. Repeat this process: the breath, the communication, the stillness, and the breath down your body through your throat center, heart center, solar plexus center, sacral center, and root center.

There’s no time limit and no schedule to this — listen and go slowly. Take as long as you want and just see what sensations, emotions, or communication comes up from your body. If you find yourself wanting to rush or wanting to disconnect, compassionately invite yourself back to the gentle pace of your walking and the rhythm of your breath. Simply give yourself your own glorious attention and see what your body has to say in return.
