What is Personified Embodiment?

Personified Embodiment is the coaching methodology I created and have utilized for the past eight years. It’s not something abstract that simply stays in your inner world — it is an incredibly practical tool for your everyday life. This deep work encourages us to get curious enough to question the assumptions that have been programmed into us by subtle organizing systems, as well as by our direct lived experiences that have created unresolved, traumatic impact within our bodies.

The goal of Personified Embodiment is to invite us all into a relationship of compassion, curiosity, and collaboration alongside our physical bodies — where we can extend the most generous assumption in the direction of our bodies and discover everything that changes when we do.

Have you ever wanted to work with me?

Since creating my online course, I’ve shifted to only working with 8-10 people per year on a 1:1 basis. I’m currently accepting applications for new clients, which you can fill out by clicking that little button right up there. Don’t worry — it’s short and sweet.

One-on-one facilitation is my deepest passion and my favorite thing. I’ve worked with hundreds of people over the past eight years, gaining thousands of hours of practice, perspective, and wisdom. I truly believe it’s one of the most potent containers of transformation — especially now that I’m integrating my training as a massage therapist into the sessions.

If coaching isn’t for you right now, I’ve created a handful of other offerings to provide support. The newest and most comprehensive offering is my online course, Your Body is a Person, that contains the culmination of my life’s work, made accessible to you in a new format!

Why an online course?

In the years since publishing my book, You Are Your Own, the waitlist to work with me 1:1 rapidly grew to hundreds of people. As my book reached more people and my platform on social media grew, so did this waitlist. Essentially, I reached a point in my career where I was getting requests from people asking to work with me almost every day.

And even though I knew it would be impossible for me, as just one facilitator, to work with every single person who has reached out to me – it has also been difficult to have to turn people away or make them wait for the support they are looking for.

That’s why, at the beginning of 2020, I entered into a year and a half long process lovingly and painstakingly creating my online course, Your Body is a Person! I chose the online course format because I believe you deserve to get the support you need, exactly when you’re seeking it. Because I believe that Personified Embodiment is the first step to both your own body liberation AND collective body liberation and justice.

“Jamie helped me begin to understand the importance of my relationship with my own body — something that my Evangelical upbringing taught me to ignore, avoid, and even despise. Jamie’s unique style of coaching gave me the space I needed not only to name and grieve many of the destructive patterns of my evangelical past, but to retake control of my own decisions, refuse to wait for permission, and begin to heal the relationship between me and my own body. Jamie used her own experience and insight to coach me through a number of challenging personal difficulties, but, in the end, I felt like I had done the work, I had taken steps in the right direction, and I was proud of my own progress. It’s such a blessing when a coach, instead of leaving you feeling like you need them, leaves you realizing that all you need is yourself.”

“My deeply oppressive Kosovarian culture had taken my body away from me years ago. Jamie was the first person to guide me back to what I thought I had permanently lost. I didn’t believe anyone could help me through the layers of trauma and I wasn’t really ready to dive into that all by myself. It’s as if Jamie could sense that there was something there I hadn’t broken open yet. My time with her was more than a session a week, it was permission to build a relationship with my body. It was permission to tell my story. It has been almost two years since we ended our time together and she is still a strong guidance in my life. She has gifted me the confidence to dive into my culture with new eyes, a language for my body that heals me everyday and the desire to share my collection of poems called A Woman’s Hymn.”
